    Light Dragonite + Boost Energy=win :)

I did not realize just how much Light Dragonite + Boost Energy = Win until this weekend, when I watched a Holon Phantom tabletop battle (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7dHTXaDfYI) featuring the Neo-Skyridge deck Light Dragonite/Espeon AQ submitted to PTCGARCHIVE by an anonymous builder (https://ptcgarchive.com/wotc-decks/neo-skyridge/#light-dragonite-espeon). First, I used to think Boost Energy would only count as one Energy if Miraculous Wind was affecting it, but since it only says “each Special Energy card provides [C] Energy” (Not “each Special Energy card provides 1 [C] Energy like Crystal Beach does), Boost Energy continues to provide 3 Energy. Even crazier, however, is the fact that Boost Energy technically stays attached forever unless it was discarded on the turn it was attached, a crazy technicality that reminds me of the original Special Metal Energy reducing Base Set Chansey’s Double Edge’s recoil twice.
This deck looks super cool, and I wish it could have existed in a format not dominated by an S-tier one-hit-KO deck like EnteiCargo. As it stands, the current Dragonite/Espeon deck probably banks on Focus Band to save its valuable attackers from Lava Flow.
If you’re still reading this, by the way, I encourage you to check out Holon Phantom’s channel. He’s posted dynamic, well-edited videos of battles from every major Wizards and World Championship format and even for the Japanese Hall of Fame format (Specifically the Nagoya Hall of Fame). If there’s a retro deck you want to see in action, there’s a high chance he’s featured it in a video! If he hasn’t, ask him if he has the cards to build it, and if he does, he’ll be happy to feature it in a future upload!

Unless there’s an errata or ruling I missed, your original interpretation appears to be accurate to the original Japanese text (sourced from ポケモンWiki):

        おたがいの場の「特殊エネルギーカード」は、「無色」エネルギー1個ぶんの「エネルギーカード」になり、持っている効果は、すべて消える。

DeepL translates that as “Special Energy Cards in both players’ fields become ‘Energy Cards’ worth 1 ‘Colorless’ Energy, and all effects they have disappear.” (Google, Bing, and Yandex give similar results.) WOTC gonna WOTC, I guess.

Well, I guess that kills Light Dragonite’s ability to attack with a single Energy attachment, although I guess the Boost Energy would still stay attached on turns after it should have been discarded unless that card was also mistranslated? But what use is that if Light Dragonite’s Pokémon Power would work even from the bench? The benefits are definitely not enough to justify playing Muk.

Another cool looking deck that has to go into the Feraligatr / Parasect pile, I guess. https://ptcgarchive.com/wotc-decks/neo-skyridge/#feraligatr-parasect (For those who didn’t know, Feraligatr’s attack was mistranslated to do damage for each Water Energy in your discard pile even if you couldn’t shuffle them back into your deck.) I guess the Wizards format original rulings purists get these decks and the Japanese wording purists get Politoed / Miracle Sphere Gamma.

Poor communication on my part; the must-be-active and special conditions clauses are also present in the Japanese version in separate sentences.

The TCG came one step short of establishing timesteps as a precedent with this card. Miraculous wind conflicts with several poke bodies, notably Tyranitar (EX 66)‘s Dark Aura, which existed in the same format. The judges determined, however, that “Tyranitar’s personal effect supersedes the Light Dragonite’s overall effect.” Somehow I have a feeling that timestamps will -never- come to the TCG

Miraculous Wind affects the Energy cards, Dark Aura affects its own Energy output. Thus Miraculous Wind makes a Metal Energy produces colorless energy, then Dark Aura changes the output to dark energy.

A similar ability appears on “Spectral Breach” Dusknoir (in Vivid Voltage / Brilliant Stars).
