Silver Tempest will feature Lugia, Unown, and Regidrago as the three VSTAR cards. That means that Lugia V and VSTAR will 100% be Colorless type instead of Psychic. Sad! 😑 😑

The TCG team seems to strongly dislike portraying Lugia as Psychic. According to interviews, ir was only ever made Psychic-type in the games because Psychic seemed “powerful” at the time (thanks to gen 1’s unbalanced and glitched type chart and Mewtwo existing).
Then in HGSS they actively went against canon and made Lugia Water-type. Always being Colorless seems to be the sort of “compromise” they’ve reached with the rest of the franchise.

Is this the YouTube video you learned that from? :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQbKwNmsTes

I actually learned it originally from the reddit post cited in the description:
            https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/5zfwku/the_reason_why_lugia_is_not_watertype_official/
But I am familiar with DidYouKnowGaming, them and Dr. Lava do great work!

I think you guys are overthinking this. Lugia is a white Pokémon and it looks nicer with the colorless card template.

I get that. I just want to see a Lugia again, someday, that isn’t weak to {L}!!
