   Here is a comment from the artist regarding this card (original followed by machine translation, for the sake of convenience);

   「海底×星空」をテーマにしました。光が届かないくらい真っ暗な海底にいるネオラントが、エサを探すためにヒレを光らせ、海底にあるものがその光に反応して色とりどりに光り、幻想的な風景が広がるということをイメージしています。

   後ろでランターンがエサを横取りしようとうかがっているという、くすりと笑ってもらえるような要素も描いています。

   ネオラントの周りの光は、歪な形のグラデーションで幻想的な雰囲気を表現しています。印刷用の色での光の表現は難しいので、絵の中の全ての色を、これでもかと極彩色にしました。背景はできるだけ暗く、黒に近い青を使用して光が強調されるようにしています。普段のイラストでは極端な色をあまり使用しないので、「これで大丈夫かな？」と不安になりながら描いていました（笑）

The background is as dark as possible, and blue, almost black, is used to emphasize the light. I usually don’t use extreme colors in my illustrations, so I was anxious about whether this would work (laughs). I was anxious as I drew this picture (laugh).

   I would absolutely love to get my hands on a print of this artwork on its own. Reading the artist statement below clearly shows that the artist has a ton of thought into the piece and it looks beautiful!
