So they released Mega Pokemon-EX in XY with the ‘turn ends’ rule not realising that it made Mega Venusaur, Blastoise, ChariXard and ChariYard unplayable. So they release Spirit Links in PHF to give the mechanic general playability, fair enough, but it leaves the original Megas still unusable. They get a perfect chance to release Spirit Links for, if not Lucario etc, at least for the starters…and they didn’t take it. What the hell. They’d probably still not see much use (if any) but I find it odd they ignored that opportunity, it just makes sense.

What’s even more sad is how much a lot of us got our hopes up when Mega Evolutions in the game being a form change that maintained their movepools looking like that could translate into another take on Level X’s and bring Evolutions more into the spotlight again in the metagame after Black and White pushed Legendary Big Basics and nerfed Rare Candy.
I’d really like to hear/see a behind the scenes one day on who and what resulted in mechanic decisions like this for the TCG. Their motivations, intentions, testing, etc.

Spirit Links were eventually released for the Big 3 in XY Evolutions!
Also — it’s sad that Mega ChariXard never got a full art version :( Woulda looked so cool…
