Was this card played a lot back in the day?

From what I remember it was upstaged by its far easier to pay for colorless counterpart. That one had a cheaper attack, Sky Field (ROS 89) to increase its damage, and Winona (ROS 96) to search it out with. Though in terms of coolness this one obviously takes the cake.
