“EW. You’re using react energy? Disgusting!” *smack*
“Ok, it’s time to show you the power of my react energy” *kerpow*
What a hypocrite

Is it just me or was this COTD before?

I’m going to cross-reference “Derail” to my comment on LOT #22/214 about special-energy discarding moves :)

not as good as the stormfront machamp but still a good card.

It’s a great partner for Electrode ex! You can rely on Derail in the early game as an efficient attack that does solid damage. Later on in the game you can power up multiple additional Machamp with the help of Electrode ex. It hits Dark Tyranitar TRR 19 for weakness (When it doesn’t have Holon Energy FF or Protection Orb attached) and can counteract BombTar’s own use of effects like Pow! Hand Extension and Scramble Energy.
A Japanese player called KantenMagicHands used this deck to win a couple of online tournaments on TCGONE in Ruby and Sapphire through Power Keepers (“The EX Block format”), and it’s starting to leak its way into the 2006 Worlds format.
There are a surprising number of Electrode ex variants. If you were interested in this post, I encourage you to check the comments section of Electrode ex.
