This Pokémon makes its home near volcanoes. At the end of the day, Magby soaks in magma, resting and recovering from the day’s fatigue.

What does this card even do??
Charmaster
To be fair, an attack like this has been competitively relevant in the past. Turtonator GX was teched into Zoroark BREAK and some Drampa GX/Garbodor builds during the Guardians Rising format because it could use its Shell Trap attack to put Metagross GX in one-hit-knockout range of attacks like Drampa GX’s Berserk or Zoroark BREAK’s Foul Play (Copying Metagross GX’s Giga Hammer), provided your opponent attacked Turtonator GX and you had a Choice Band attached to the next attacker. This was important because the Metagross GX player could heal off your damage with Max Potion if you attempted to knock it out in two hits, but they couldn’t heal off damage they took from Shell Trap’s secondary effect before you dealt the finishing blow.
Is Magby great? No, but another Pokémon has done what it does better. Plus, Turtonator GX had two other solid attacks that made it a valuable addition to Fire type decks as well, even after Metagross GX became less relevant. I love how versatile Pokémon can become when you give them three viable effects.
