    I never understood the purpose of the held item mechanic. They were just Poke Bodies under a different name.

      Dialga G Lvl X was out around this time. Probably not the only reason, but the blocking mechanic may have had something to do with it. (They certainly didn’t keep it around after the Platinum series, it looks like.)

      Plus it’s retreat cost is only one Colorless anyway, so would having 2+ Magnemite on the bench give you minus retreat cost?
