Both Sableye and Lopunny received their first multi-prize cards in the tag team era! Personally, I’m also grateful that we got their mega evolutions in the TCG whilst being spared the graphic design eyesore that were the Mega cards.

I *love* this GX move. If you can use DAA Hydreigon to accelerate ten {D} energies, you get the best ever milling move in the TCG!

BUS Charizard GX‘s milling move is much easier to pull off, but that’s why it’s on a Stage 2 instead of a basic.

How was this card supposed to be accelerated in standard when it first came out?

its a bit tricky but from what ive seen the most consistent way is by having weavile-gx’s ability paired with beast ring or baby naganadel (or both) and then being able to move energy to this pokemon, its not that hard but often risky

Dark Box, the deck this was played in, used Weavile GX + a method of accelerating Dark Energy to anything in order to put Energy onto its high cost attackers. There were a number of different methods people used!
My personal favorite was Lost Thunder Naganadel for sustainability and repeatability, as well as Beast Ring access. Another popular method was to use Unbroken Bonds Sharpedo. And when Red & Blue came out, that was used in the deck, getting you right into Weavile, or more commonly Silvally GX with 2 energy, plus your attachment for turn meant you could immediately attack with Umbreon and Darkrai if Weavile was up.
