Look’s like Steven has his own character rare! I like that they did more pseudo “character rare” cards in Vivid Voltage.

Adding to the list: Ultra Prism Sneasel, Hidden Fates Arbok, Hidden Fates Weezing, Unbroken Bonds Marowak (kind of?), Unbroken Bonds Tentacool, Unbroken Bonds Koffing, Unbroken Bonds Diglett, Unbroken Bonds Rhydon… Unbroken Bonds had a lot of these.

That should be Unbroken Bonds Rhydon at the end there, and while double-checking that typo, I noticed Burning Shadows Rhydon also features a character from the games in the artwork. There’s another card in Burning Shadows that does the same thing, actually, but I’m not intending to make an exhaustive list here, lol.

Ambassador: “I’m not going to do a comprehensive list.”
Me: “I guess I will. A comprehensive list of Pokémon that feature HUMANS in their illustrations, in fact!” ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve reviewed the first three generations of Pokémon so far, which is about 20% of all the Pokémon on the site. There actually aren’t that many early illustrations featuring humans, period.

            Gen 1
            Dark Magneton TR 11 **
            Dark Slowbro TR 12 **
            Dark Magneton TR 28
            Dark Slowbro TR 29 **
            Grimer TR 57
            Misty’s Tentacool G1 57***

            Gen 2
            Shining Gyarados N3 65 **
            Dark Slowbro LC 8 **
            Rocket’s Sneasel BG5 ***
            Hypno AQ H12 *
            Hypno AQ 16 *
            Rocket’s Scizor BG 4 ***

            Gen 3
            Minun EM 37
            Plusle EM 39

There is only one human in frame
** There is only a member of an official Trainer class in frame
*** There is only a named character in frame

At this point, we’re an entire eight years into international Pokémon TCG history, but the cities all feel like ghost towns, the golden age of art only shows humans far-off in stadiums, and the only “pseudo character-rares” we’ve gotten are of Misty, Team Rocket grunts, a fisherman and The Masked Marauder. Trainer cards have truly been carrying the human representation up to this point. The frequent showcasing of Pokémon amongst humans is a big win for, say, the XY era.
I’m going to be continuing this mad quest, so if you (the reader) comment on any Pokémon featuring humans in their artwork, please link back to Celestial Storm Metagross so others can benefit from the list (That’s actually how I found this comment thread in the first place).

Okay, so one, it looks like I dropped something. \ For another thing, there should be one asterisk before “There is only one human in frame.”
