I’ve often supposed that one of the reasons Delta Species cards were never revisited in the TCG was because Game Freak wanted to sort of ‘reserve the right’ to explore type-changing as a gimmick in a future Pokémon game down the line, without any sort of conceptual overlap and debate about whether the TCG or the mainline games “did it better”.
So, even though it was a celebration of every era of the TCG, I’m very surprised in retrospect that a Delta Species Mimikyu card was printed in 2021 (and a Delta Species Gardevoir reprinted), given Scarlet/Violet development would’ve been more than well under way. All the moreso to actually OK a reference to the Crystal Guardians/Dragon Frontiers aspect of Holon Crystals conferring weird typing on Pokémon, vs the Legend Maker/Delta Species lore which suggested it was a result of any of weather storms, some inherent property of the Holon region, and/or something to do with Mew.

amusingly, it looks like tpci forgot how delta species work, as their original incarnations kept the weakness/resistance of their normal typings (i.e. Charizard CG being weak to water)
so this should’ve been weak to steel or dark, although steel would then vaguely imply that this card was simply representing an ice-type
