I’m wondering if this will see play with the new budew supposedly threatening to shape the meta.

Let me just stop you there, Mist Energy can’t block Budew, as the effect of Budew’s attack is on the player, not the Pokémon getting attacked. Just use the way more consistent strat of crushing the Budew like a bug.
