It’s no Erika or Professor Oak, but it is very adept at expanding the size of your hand and getting you what you want. It’s a bit risky to be a hard staple in unlimited, but it’s definitely a viable option for your draw engine. It competes with Poké Drawer + · Stormfront (SF) #89 for being the 3rd best draw trainer out there.
You don’t need it, though. Between Erika, Uxie · Legends Awakened (LA) #43, Unown · Ancient Origins (AOR) #30 (and Unown R · Legends Awakened (LA) #77), cards like Item Finder and Computer Search (The ACE SPEC is officially a different card altogether, so you can run 4 Base Set ones) to get your hand down AND get the exact thing you need, you can easily draw your whole deck in one turn without having to even worry about discarding from a random selection. You have complete control over what you get rid of in that engine and adding a randomness element would only hinder it.
Naw… Erika is the one who killed Bill. Maybe. I wasn’t a good or well-informed enough player to know firsthand, and it isn’t easy finding reliable decklists from this time (especially belonging to competent players). What I do know from reading stuff from back then is that Erika (preferably in multiples) would be followed by a copy of Imposter Oak’s Revenge · Team Rocket (RO) #76, eliminating the drawback of Erika. Misty’s Wrath was also used, but more for decks that wanted stuff in the discard or were “turbo” (extremely aggressive, like donk decks).

Misty can be soooooo broken when she’s angry

Curtis
Much like its cousin, Sage’s Training in its modified days, it’s really dependent on the deck as to whether it should be played or not.
Mantidactyle
With the current unlimited “metagame”, it’s a card which should be played whatever your deck is
Curtis
RIP Computer Search.

If you play 150, I think it is a mistake to not play Misty’s Wrath
And there’s still Celebi ex · POP Series 2 (P2) #17, Item Finder · Base Set (BS) #74, Junk Arm · Triumphant (TM) #87, Trash Exchange · Gym Heroes (G1) #126, Recycle and even Ho-Oh-EX · Dragons Exalted (DRX) #22 to recover cards.
In unlimited with all cards in 4 per deck you don’t need it though
linkinboss
In unlimited meta many decks can pull a 1-turn win. It would be unwise not to play a card like this :P

Dark Kira
Does anyone know any cards similar to this (draw trainers that put cards in your discard pile)?
Mantidactyle
Discard cards from your deck ? Fervor · Gym Challenge (G2) #124 and Sage’s Training · Undaunted (UD) #77.

RIP Bill

Misty’s channeling her Anime counterpart in this artwork!

Can be good with attackers that require a lot of a specific card in your discard pile, like Lost Origin Spiritomb or PGO Magikarp.
