The Japanese name of this Ability is パールバリア, which translates as “Pearl Barrier”. As its counterpart, it would be neat if Mr. Mime GX’s (TEU #67) Ability was “Diamond Barrier”, but it’s actually インパールバリア, i.e. “Imphal Barrier”. Just like evens and odds are diametrically opposed concepts with a catchy ring to them, パール and インパー are also diametrically opposed concepts with a catchy ring to them.
Without getting into it in too much detail, the Battle of Imphal was the worst defeat the Japanese military suffered in World War II, and this is a rare instance of a localization change I’m okay with.
