Thickly covered with a filthy, vile sludge. It is so toxic, even its footprints contain poison.

Was this ever used in combination with Misty’s Gyarados?

It seems like a pretty obvious combo. I do know that Brock’s Ninetales and Misty’s Gyarados were paired together in a deck, since a Gyrados that “evolved” from Ninetales couldn’t use its Pokemon Power

One has to remember how prevalent energy denial was back then, so putting 4 water on a Gyarados would be pretty tricky, and keeping it on there would be even harder. Since Muk shuts off Blastoise, you can’t spam water energy. Brock’s Ninetales on the other hand, lets you use Brock’s Protection to keep water energy from being discarded.
