“You and your newfangled pokedex. Back in my day, before Professor Oak invented the computerized version, we shuffled our deck AFTER we rearranged the top five cards in it.”
Hey all. New digs. What do you think? Please bombard me with feedback here or through pkmncards.com/contact. I’ve noticed that pages are loading slowly (or slower than I expected them to), so I’ll try to fix that and any other bugs that become apparent in the next few days. I don’t have a roadmap for what is next besides adding Evolving Skies to the database next week. So: Send any ideas or requests my way. Thanks—you all are great and your input + friendly activity keeps me going with development of the site. Much love and gratitude, Adam.
1. I’ve enabled multiple artists per cards, which will help w/ a handful of searches. You can do something like +@big-mama-tagawa,* to pull up cards that were illustrated by both “Big Mama Tagawa” and any other illustrator/collective. It’ll also be more reliable now to retrieve every card illustrated by a single artist. (Sometimes a card or two would be missing from the archive because there were two illustrators lumped into a single field, like for Shinji Higuchi.)
2. There was an issue with lazy-loading images on iOS and Safari. The images would sometimes not load as you’d scroll down the page. They’d appear as dots or lines. I believe this is fixed, though let me know if notice anything that looks weird.
I will be addressing TCGplayer stuff next (a lot of cards say “not sold @ TCGplayer” which in most cases means that we had trouble retrieving the pricing data). I’m not sure if I’ll complete that in the next 24 hours, but by the end of next week I’m hoping to have the pricing data stabilized. As always, feel free to reply here or messages me through pkmncards.com/contact with any ideas, bug reports, or requests.
Personally, I like the old name format better
New Pokédex (Neo Genesis N1 95)
than the new way
New Pokédex · Neo Genesis (N1) #95
But that’s just my opinion. Looks awesome otherwise!
Hi John, thanks for the input! This is a good opportunity for me to explain new features: The thought behind the change for the card titles is that this makes certain searches easier to specify. So, for example, you can search for “(Set Abbreviation)” and that’s going to reliably pull up the set you’re looking for. Neo Genesis is a bad example, but Expedition is otherwise tricky to search for by its set abbreviation (EX). EX matches tons of stuff. (EX) will now bring up just Expedition cards.
The usage of the # in front of the number is similar. The previous version of the site supported using # to specify number (I think…), but it wasn’t obvious that you could do so. Exposing this in the title hopefully makes it more apparent that you can prefix a number with # to search for that specific number. Compare 95 vs. #95. (Again, I think this worked previously, but I don’t know if many people knew about it.)
Love the new format. Only question, since i use this site Extremely Frequently for proxies, how do I clear my proxy sheet? There used to be a button with the proxy amounts that let you clear the page, but I only see the 1-4 quantities now.
Thanks Divinity! Right now you’ll have to click on each card on the proxy page to remove them. Tomorrow I will plan to re-add the Clear link, probably next to the Back link. I wasn’t sure how to handle the Clear and View links for the new design. Do you think the new layout is any easier to use for proxying? I’m open to doing more w/ the proxy feature—I didn’t get around to revising it all that much for the launch.
While I’m particularly fond of the old layout, this one looks great and I’m sure I’ll get used to how it looks. I don’t think either layouts are easier or harder to use for proxying though, so I know this one will be great when I start editing decks following the release of Evolving Skies in a week.
Overall though, the site and layout looks absolutely great. I’m a person who is not too fond of any kinds of changes, and this seriously looks amazing, and I can’t wait to use the site more following the new layout being implemented.
I’ve added a clear link to the Print Proxies page, so in the top right corner it now shows: “← Back · Clear all”
Thanks for the input. I will try to set aside time to revamp the proxy feature at some point (which probably won’t be until the fall or winter). Here are some ideas:
– +X link (you can specify how many copies to add instead of only have +1, +2, +3, +4 options)
– The ability to sort proxies (all the same sorting options as for a normal search)
– Share feature (sort of like export/import)
– Rounded corners for older cards (they’re missing them right now)
Stuff like that. I’d like to see what more I can do for the proxy feature. Feel free to mention other ideas if you think of any.
Hey Adam,
Loving the new format!!! As someone who uses this website ALOT (it is amazing for looking up cards for CUBE), I look forward to the new site look and functionality. One thing I would like to add back is the ability to sort cards by name. It was a very helpful option before and I would love to see it back.
Hey EpicMedic, thanks! I’ve edited the label in the dropdown so now it says: “abc (name).” I had changed the label to “alphabetical” for the launch but having “name” in there makes more sense. alphabetical could be alphabetical by any trait.

Okay, it’s really weird that you have to shuffle your deck before looking at the top 5 cards. I mean, it rarely ever changes anything I guess.
