Poké-POWER ⇢ Loose Shell
Once during your turn, when you play Ninjask from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokémon, you may search your deck for Shedinja and put it onto your Bench. Treat the new Benched Pokémon as a Basic Pokémon. Shuffle your deck afterward.
{C}{C} → Quick Touch : 30
You may switch Ninjask with 1 of your Benched Pokémon. If you do, you may move any number of {G} Energy cards attached to Ninjask to the new Active Pokémon.

The two appearances of “Cast-off Shell” as an Ability–NOT as a Poke-Power–are virtually the same as “Loose Shell.” The major difference here seems to be the requirement that the new Shedinja be treated as a Basic Pokemon.

Conceivably, you could have a Shedinja in play that was a normal Stage 1 as well as a Shedinja that was a Basic! How could you tell the difference? Well, the Stage 1 Shedinja card would have a Nincada card underneath, and the Basic would not.
The evolution/basic distinction would affect how each Shedinja interacted with cards like LM Girafarig, for instance.

This distinction also is worth considering when a card is put into play by “Archie” or “Maxie” (the supporters from TM vs. TA), or “Holon Fossil.”
