Both of Noctowl’s attacks will be translated differently in the future. Spearhead, originally さきどり [𝐒𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐢], first appeared in the TCG on the JP-only card Alto Mare’s Xatu, and will show up as the name of an attack in Pokémon Diamond & Pearl. For the English video games, it will be translated as “Me First”, and the TCG will adopt that as the new translation of the attack’s name with pretty much immediate effect (i.e. DP Chatot).
Surprise, originally おどろかす [𝐎𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐚𝐬𝐮], first appeared in the TCG on Lt. Surge’s Eevee. おどろかす appeared in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, and for the English games, was translated as “Astonish”. Despite that, it continued to be translated as “Surprise” for the English TCG up until, as it happens, also DP (see DP Misdreavus and DP Wynaut).
