Normalium Z: Tackle
Trainer › Item › Pokémon Tool

If the Pokémon this card is attached to has the Tackle attack, it can use the GX attack on this card. (You still need the necessary Energy to use this attack.)

{C}{C}{C}{C} → Barreling Blitz-GX : 200+
Flip a coin until you get tails. This attack does 40 more damage for each heads. (You can’t use more than 1 GX attack in a game.)

· Pokémon Tool rule: Attach a Pokémon Tool to 1 of your Pokémon that doesn’t already have a Pokémon Tool attached to it.

I wonder if this card has any merit in expanded Dynamotor decks. Lost Thunder Mareep has Tackle, as does Fusion Strike Tynamo, and they both have enough acceleration built in with Flaaffy/Eelektrik that a surprise Barreling Blitz GX isn’t out of the question.

If I evolve my Plasma Blast Porygon (which has the ‘Tackle’ attack) into Porygon2 & attach Memory Energy (+ 3 other Energy) can Porygon2 use Barreling Blitz? Given the recent ruling on Path To Peak & the new VSTAR Tablets I am thinking the answer is no but wanted to confirm.

No, since Memory Energy (and similar effects) only allow the pokemon to *use* the attacks of the prevo, but it still doesn’t *have* the attacks (which would require actually being printed on the card).

I do wish memory effects worked that way, though. Caturday decks might get a lot more interesting!

The answer appears to be no.

𝑄. I have Radiant Celebi out and its Ability Time Recall is active, and my active SUM Shellder [which has the attack Tackle] has Normalium Z: Tackle attached. If my Shellder evolves into Cloyster¹, can it use the attack “Barreling Blitz GX”?
      𝐴. No, it cannot.

I don’t see any discrepancy between the scenario you’ve proposed and the one I’ve found, but I can keep looking some more if you think there’s any turn of phrase where Radiant Celebi isn’t a perfect analog to Memory Energy or etc.

¹ The Q&A specifies it as SUM Cloyster but obviously any Cloyster that doesn’t have a Tackle attack printed on it would fit for the sake of the question.
