Why is Pokémon Checkup so often excluded from multi-turn attacks? Why is it considered more powerful than playing another Supporter for instance?

The original text of the card doesn’t mention ‘Pokemon Checkup’ at all. “Pokemon Checkup” is a term made up by TPCI to make up for the disparity between the Japanese and English rulebooks. My guess would be that the JP rulebooks make explicit that what you might understand as ‘checks between turns’ are in fact ‘checks made when control goes from one player to the other’, so when they write these attacks, they’re not deliberately going out of their way to avoid Checkup the way you think they are – there’s just no way that the scenario can trigger those checks anyways.

I imagine it’s because status conditions like poison, especially amplified with certain effects like Mega Dragalge ex‘s would be too busted.
