This card game is missing its babies? Wonder why they haven’t been around for 6 years – have they just not found a mechanic that meshes well with the current rules? I find that hard to believe. It’s keeping some very popular Pokémon out of “action”.

      Aye it is a pity.

I think they need to bite the bullet and just make long time “baby” Pokémon into regular Basics, and upgrade the former Basic into a Stage 1. If they have to, reverse an idea they had from the past by giving an Ability to the Stage 1 in question to be played from hand as a Basic, but place some damage counters on it and dock its damage output when you do. That way they can still spam Pikachu Promos that kids can play easily. ;) The real issue is that with Expanded, they cannot just hold off for a year or two, maybe throw in an earlier rotation, to separate the older versions from the new. Meaning we’d have both Basic and Stage 1 Pikachu’s running around.

Even if that were the case, they still may not get released.

Take Chimecho and Sunkern for example… both are Basic stage, yet neither has had a card since Supreme Victors (Chimecho) or HGSS (Sunkern).

BTW, yes, Pichu DID get a more recent card released than Chimecho.
