I prefer this to Pokemon Communication
coolestman22
I don’t, it’s old, and it can’t get LEGENDs and Lv. Xs, so Communication would be better in Unlimited.

Once D&P came out, anything that said ‘Basic or Evolution card’ got erratas to change it to just ‘Pokemon’. It still works for LVX and LEGENDS. Pkmn Communication still looks better though.

This card is maaaybe not supposed to work with Baby Pokémon? This follows comments on Delta Species Hypno and Expedition Dual Ball[1], where we collectively realized “Baby Pokémon counts as a Basic Pokémon” was something WOTC invented that has no equivalent term in the original JP game. It’s either a misunderstanding or willful ignorance of an errata that was issued at the beginning of the neo era in Japan where certain cards that used the term たねポケモン, “Basic Pokémon”, were errata’d to instead say 「たねポケモン」または「ベイビィポケモン」(“Basic Pokémon and/or Baby Pokémon”). Circumstantial evidence suggests that Pokémon Trader MAYBE wasn’t included in the list of errata’d cards – anyone have any idea if anyone’s ever put together a compendium of Pokémon Card Trainer Magazines? Seeing the errata itself would be the best way of confirming.
Outlining the way I’ve developed this suspicion would be way too long to share here – PK Sharpedo was a one-off! – so I’ve documented a list of cards that likely were and weren’t errata’d on that Miraheze wiki I’ve been occasionally tinkering with, and did a full write-up on this card on my Substack.

Even if this tentative conclusion ends up being proven wrong, I think it’s an interesting thing I’ve put together that gives you some additional insight on how WOTC translated early cards (e.g. this translation of Trader has more in common with the Japanese card’s 1998 Quick Start Deck reprint that it does its “Base Set equivalent” 1996 First Expansion Pack print) and how Japan had a much easier time incorporating Baby Pokémon into the game, having had to errata only 15 cards maximum, while WOTC had to jump so many hoops to change the text of every single Baby Pokémon card, changing the text of *several* Neo and e-Card trainers, of which several ended up with redundant/inconsistent language. To what end, I only have my guesses. (It’s a bit of a daunting task to try and tally it up how many cards WOTC had to change to make their dumb decision work, but it runs laps around the single afternoon PCL might’ve had to spend on writing up an errata.)
[1] There’s also comments on cards like Dark Ursaring that go along with it, among others.

[2 thumbs up]. Also, glad to hear that the thief got screwed over.

Wait, what happened? I am not seeing it here…

There is a youtuber (deltaseeker) who made a video about old pokemon cards and, “coincidentally” made a video based on Ambassador’s information. If you browsed deltaseeker videos, he didn’t made one for a couple of years until Ambassador started making comments on this site. View computer search and read Ambassador’s comment.

It may not have been ambassador himself who got the video removed, as said video from deltaseeker that was taken down was allegedly ripping off an article on jamboree alongside some of his comments and he stated that a “third party” claimed the video. Not that it really matters though, this is no twitter drama site & I for one am simply happy the ambassador feels comfortable enough to keep posting here! Welcome back :)
