Rather than the Super Singe-featuring Typhlosion also in this set, I would personally give the title of the first appearance of Super Singe to this card. In Japan, Quilava was available in what was colloquially known in English as the “Pokémon-e Starter Deck”, a semi-randomized theme deck available starting December 1, 2001. The “main set” was… well, it was also available starting December 1, 2001, but the tie-breaker would be the intended order of the sets, which can determined by the e-TCG ID #s. Quilava is part of the A-set, with ID A-15-#, and Typhlosion is part of the B-set, with ID B-71. Since the e-TCG IDs carry over, it applies for all languages of the TCG, but more persuasive than that would be that Quilava was already the father of the Burn effect in the TCG, even before this card. What was Quilava N1-47‘s Char counter if not a prototypal Burn counter?
