This extremely rare Pokémon is a different color than usual. It is very hard to find.

Man, this card is expensive. (Disregard the Amazon price, at the moment it links to the wrong card.)
feyblade
The two weakest types from the base set….
now some of the strongest types in the format, with a ridiculously powerful dragon requiring both types to be fielded.
Also, were they looking for a wallet killer here? Something as powerful as the musketeers…available ONLY as an ultra rare(in the states, at least). Wow.
reshikrom64
I wouldn’t call the type that had Base Electabuzz weak.
Mantidactyle
Fighting, Lightning and Colorless were the strong types from Base Set
feyblade
While haymaker was a very powerful archetype, lightning types would rarely be fielded alone. Electabuzz was an awesome standout electric, I know. I have used haymaker before, and it rocks…but if you’re looking at mono-colored decks, Rain Dance made water the most powerful type in the set. On average, the electric type was just less efficient than water was.
Mantidactyle
That’s a joke, no one played Rain Dance at tournaments, hello Squirtle donks.
Lightning was the best type because it was in every top tier deck. Electabuzz Hitmonchan. Then Electabuzz Scyther Mewtwo with Jungle. Then Rocket’s Zapdos.
Lightning has been the best type up to the Gym Series.
feyblade
Digging through some articles written at the time, it is obvious that haymaker was the dominant strategy at the time. That being said, the only type-dominated deck that ever made it anywhere was Rain Dance, with a bit of a showing from Damage Swap and Trans Energy.
I think the argument here is largely based off of semantics: When I commented on lightning as a type, I was thinking about the ability of lightning to function as a standalone type. I knew full well that haymaker itself was a dominant strategy, and that an all-star electric functioned well in haymaker. As a standalone, lightning was not as capable as water was. . On the other hand, it’s clear that chan, scyther, magmar, electabuzz, and zapdos were all really powerful cards.
Yeah, in hindsight the comment was pretty silly

I still don’t see why this is so high priced… Maybe people will realize this card isn’t that great after no one uses it in BRs.
coolestman22
I don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s 99 cents on ebay!
Ziggmiceter
It’s called bidding
Mario
3.50 is a high price?
Ziggmiceter
It was $90+ when I posted that. It shrunk because of Rayquaza (Dragon Vault DRV 11).
coolestman22
Glad to see the price has dropped, even if Dragon Vault Quaza exists.
Jared Scott
I don’t know why all of my friends think this is such a great card. It’s first attack is NOT worth risking.
feyblade
Self mill does not on average hurt you unless you are running a deck that relies on particular combinations of cards or are facing against an opponent that is likely to attempt to mill you as well. In basic heavy decks (which this is generally limited to anyway), the mill won’t weigh on your odds of winning that often.
Jared Scott
If I had to use this in a deck, it might possibly be of some use if my opponent drops a beginning eel and i have a good hand.
Benjamin Poke Battler
$34.99 my butt
Professor_N
That’s average for a “Shiny” card. Look up Secret Rare Ultra Ball (the most expensive of the “Shiny” cards).
100000Volts
The only secret rare card I pulled up to date. What did they do? re-print it three times. In other words, I didn’t pull anything spectacular, THE END!
parttimetcgcollector
I have this card in mint condition, and I should sell it!!!! Holy smoke, its expensive!
