When would you ever want to play this card in your deck?? Unless you have some super-secret strategy, your opponent is always going to discard the two cards that they think would be most useful to you. It would be better to just play a vanilla “draw 3” card, IMO!

I don’t think a worse supporter card exists

Riley makes Rival look playable.
I will say, I hope some day Pokémon introduces a “Fact or Fiction” style supporter, which these are seemingly trying to imitate. It would effectively just be “Reveal the top five cards of your deck. Your opponent separates those cards into two piles. Put one pile into your hand and the other into your discard pile.” That way you can really play mind games with your opponent rather than just having them dump your best cards while giving you nothing.

The JP card for this is one of the few error cards in East Asia. Specifically, it lists the illustrator as AYUMI ODASHIMA, not Ken Sugimori.

I looked it up in the respective card databases, and it appears to be an error in Japanese and Traditional Chinese, but interestingly was corrected by the time the Korean, Thai, and Indonesian versions were released. Assuming Gym promo pack 9 coincides with the release of Star Birth in each language, it only took 6 weeks from when they discovered and reported the error (2022-01-07) to when the first corrected versions (Korean and Thai) were released (2022-02-25).
