It knows how people and Pokémon feel by looking at their auras. It doesn’t approach dangerous opponents.

First AKIRA EGAWA illustration!

By the time this card made it stateside, I was already pretty familiar with Akira Egawa’s art from her work in Nintendo’s other TCG at the time, Fire Emblem Cipher. Her first Pokémon illustration was actually pretty soon after her first Fire Emblem one — this card’s Japanese release was only 5 months after the release of Niamh in Cipher’s Shining World set.
Cipher released its last set at the end of 2020, just in time for Akira Egawa’s art to grace international booster packs throughout 2021. I don’t necessarily think Fire Emblem Cipher drying up freed her up for more Pokémon work (once Cipher ended, she started contributing to Fire Emblem’s gacha game instead), but it’s a somewhat interesting coincidence.
I believe she’s the only artist to have been an active contributor on both TCGs, although Yusuke Kozaki and Fuzichoco have guest illustrated for the Pokémon TCG in addition to their regular Fire Emblem work. Fuzichoco’s Pokémon cards remain Japanese exclusive.

I’m surprised I never knew about Egawa’s Fire Emblem involvement, given I’m a huge FE fan. I suppose I never really paid any attention to Cipher, but I’ve definitely seen a lot of her FE artwork without ever having connected that they’re the same person.
