This artwork was featured in the 2022 TCG Online Illustration Exhibition, and included a comment from the artist, KEIICHIRO ITO;
“Scyther is said to live in the grass. This was problematic—how could I make a green Pokémon stand out in a green field? That’s why I set the scene at twilight, and I think it really made the image more dramatic. I based it on the sort of scene you see at the climax of a samurai story—as dusk settles over the grassland, who is the dual-bladed Scyther facing in battle? I was also very worried about getting Scyther’s legs right, because despite my research, I couldn’t work out precisely how they would bend.”
