Compare this card’s attacks to Mega Lucario ex… the power creep is crazy.

(Is it fair to assume that the folks reading this website will know that Mega Lucario ex exists and is a different card than M Lucario EX?)

It comes down to how the information is presented. Charmaster can reasonably assume most readers know about years-old cards like Rainbow Energy, Porygon2 N3, and Dark Porygon2, but still adds links to each one (and more) in their recent reply to Brock’s Ninetales: https://pkmncards.com/card/brocks-ninetales-gym-challenge-g2-3/ That makes their post worth reading – it’s easier to follow and more engaging. In contrast, your post references a card that isn’t easy to find on this site yet. Since it hasn’t been released and most players haven’t had the chance to play with or against it, they’re less likely to know or recall exactly what it does. Without that context, it comes across as little more than an observation that “power creep exists,” which is something most players are already familiar with.

I would say Mega Lucario ex ( https://www.serebii.net/card/megabrave/029.shtml ) power creeps Single Strike Urshifu VMAX more in consistency than power. This Urshifu relies on benching multiple https://pkmncards.com/card/houndoom-battle-styles-bst-096/ to quickly attach https://pkmncards.com/card/single-strike-energy-battle-styles-bst-141/ , powering up its attacks and boosting its damage as high as 350, and it also needs https://pkmncards.com/card/urn-of-vitality-battle-styles-bst-139/ to recycle those Energy. Mega Lucario ex, meanwhile, can use the Item Premium Power Pro ( https://www.serebii.net/card/megabrave/058.shtml ) for boosting its damage and has a built-in Energy acceleration attack that does decent damage (And I’m sure it could fit https://pkmncards.com/card/bloodmoon-ursaluna-shrouded-fable-sfa-025/ and https://pkmncards.com/card/energy-switch-silver-tempest-sit-212/ if accelerating energy with its attack isn’t fast enough).

Of course, the Single Strike deck had solid two prize attackers like https://pkmncards.com/card/single-strike-urshifu-v-battle-styles-bst-085/ and https://pkmncards.com/card/tyranitar-v-battle-styles-bst-097/ that hit relevant weaknesses. I’m sure Mega Lucario ex can fit less valuable Fighting and Colorless attackers if it needs to, but I can’t think of a Darkness Pokémon that fits well into the deck.

P.S. I certainly wouldn’t assume many people know about https://pkmncards.com/card/porygon2-neo-revelation-n3-12/ and https://pkmncards.com/card/dark-porygon2-neo-destiny-n4-8/ ! They’re not the most iconic Neo era cards, nor are the sets they’re from among the most iconic expansions. Of course, I’m probably underestimating how many views pack openings get. I remember Mellow Magikarp or someone saying that more people have seen a Skyridge pack opening than a https://pkmncards.com/card/roaring-moon-ex-paradox-rift-par-124/ game.)

no bc THIS 👏 charmaster understood the assignment 💅 dropped the links, added the context, made it actually worth reading. like yes, we know what power creep is but if you’re gonna talk about a card ppl can’t even look up here yet, you gotta give us the receipts otherwise it’s just “dear diary, I’m so smart for knowing about a card you don’t” 🙄

On the Magneton post last week, I posted a link to the Psyduck card on Serebii. The post appeared, but then and some mod went through after and deleted it 🤔

Sorry about that—your comment went straight to spam filter which I seldom check for false positives. The filter tends to think that if a comment contains an external link it’s spam. I’ve approved the comment (plus a few others that were not in actuality spam).

Glad to hear the hyperlinks make my comments worth reading, because they’re pretty long ones, especially the ones under cards with a long and/or diverse history of use. And Burma, I’ve also had a few comments (Notably my recent comment under Clefable JU ) get lost in the spam filter because of linking to a bunch of resources, though the spam filter doesn’t seem to mind some of my most referenced sources like Jason Klaczynski’s retro Pokémon TCG blog (https://jklaczpokemon.com ) or whiskeyworship’s Pokémon and Magic the Gathering (But largely Prop 15/3-focused) blog (https://retrotcgs.com ). If a comment doesn’t get through, I just send JP a DM on Discord letting him know.

I will say that making all my hyperlinks is a big pain, because I have to copy and paste a line of html for every link I want, then copy and paste the link into the html, or it won’t be a link at all. https://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_a_href.asp Adam Capriola shared this trick and explained why it was necessary in a comment under Brock’s Ninetales (Brock’s Ninetales ). I will post a normal link here to show what happens when the html isn’t used, but suffice it to say that repeating this procedure 20 times for a 700 word comment makes finishing that comment take about twenty or thirty minutes longer, so I haven’t always bothered with it (Such as in this case: https://pkmncards.com/card/brocks-mankey-gym-heroes-g1-68/ ), and I still often skip that step if I’m writing a short reply to an ongoing conversation or just don’t want to spend an hour on a single comment.

Wait, the Brock’s Mankey link worked without the HTML trick…
        … I hate myself.
Can I have a 24 hour refund on my life?

(Does it work for https://jklaczpokemon.com and https://retrotcgs.com too?)

You can use Markdown for URLs too if you want to save space but don’t want to bother with HTML: https://www.markdownguide.org/basic-syntax/#links

Thank you! That’s very useful to know and seems MUCH easier to remember than html!
