Its body is made of magma. If it doesn’t keep moving, its body will cool and harden.

Much of its utility comes from the double colorless attack, which allows it to function in decks without any fire energy, or with only a tiny splash of it. As a basic that is expected to evolve into something, it does its job decently, providing both an offensive and a defensive utility. Sadly, the only Magcargos to utilize non-fire energy provide little to no utility to teams in desperate need of fire type damage. Because fighting is a “common” type and fire is not, it’s unlikely that any future printings of magcargo will utilize the fighting type. This advantage is ultimately wasted.

Wow, what an in depth review of such an innocuous little card. I have this guy in a Fire deck (alongside the Deoxys Slugma (collect) Smooth over Magcargo and the latest Magcargo).
It just so happens it’s come up twice in memory where I’ve had energy on this guy and stalled a couple of turns with Body Slam… with Firestarter Blaziken I often end up with Slugmas with far more energy than they should!
