It’s perhaps only a coincidence, but this Spiritomb feels very much like a spiritual successor to Neo Genesis Murkrow. The key fundamentals are there: a means to lock your opponent’s pokemon into the active slot, an attack that deals consistent damage wherever you want. If your opponent lacks a means to switch their pokemon out, and the pokemon that’s locked in the active has no means to attack, they’ve functionally lost the game. And since Cursed Whirlpool is an Ability instead of an attack, this ends up a bit more efficient — at the expense of the free retreat cost.
Thinking, though, anti-Ability effects are pretty common, while things that clear effects of attacks are pretty rare. Perhaps the only thing this Spiritomb *really* has over Murkrow is 10 HP :U
