This was a very bizarre card to look into. When comparing this card to its BW-era print, and then finding out about the errata to the BW-print existing in both the EN and JP edition of the game, I was expecting to write a 1-2 paragraph comment on this card at most, but I ended up writing 5,000 words on this card and the history of “up to” in the EN and JP TCG, so I’ve deferred it to my blog instead; https://ambassadortcg.substack.com/p/superior-energy-retrieval-an-errata
