In what way, shape, or form is someone getting -poisoned- a miracle? The Japanese version named the attack “Miracle Blow,” which at least clarifies that the attack itself has miraculous powers.
Hypnotoxic is pretty much better than this thing in every way, by the way. Even if you choose paralysis here, you’re still only using the TM to stall the game for a turn and deal ten damage to the opponent.

It’s a continuation of “Miracle” as a connotation of an attack/etc. being able to inflict any status condition the player chooses to inflict – ND Shining Celebi‘s Miracle Leaf, AQ Ninetales‘ Miracle Tail, and SK Venomoth‘s Miracle Powder precede this TM*, and it’s succeeded by myriad cards with Miracle Powder, Miracle Blow, Miracle Essense, and Miracle Aroma – all which are attacks or powers with the same effect.

Presumably, since N1 Miracle Berry can *cure* any condition, so it follows that a Miracle Attack would be able to *inflict* any condition. See also “Miraculous” in some powers/attacks/etc. which also were capable of either inflicting or resolving *any* status condition. (Mind you, there are a few cards that use “Miracle” or “Miraculous” that don’t adhere to this concept, so it’s not absolute.)

      * See also N2 Butterfree and VS Janine’s Venomoth. Both have the attack ミラクル, which should’ve been and could’ve been translated, respectfully, as Miracle Scales (and not Magic Dust), since it maintains the Miracle effect.

Aquapolis Porygon 103b (C-32-b) is also part of this legacy. Its long strip could be scanned with the e-Reader for the attack Miracle Beam, which then did some RNG to determine what Status Condition(s) would be inflicted.
