Your opponent may choose 5 Basic Pokémon, Evolution, and/or basic Energy cards in his or her discard pile. (If your opponent doesn’t have that many, he or she chooses all or none of them.) If your opponent chooses any cards, he or she shuffles them into his or her deck. Either way, you may do the same, and you can’t play any more Trainer cards this turn.

So they turned it into a quasi supporter? Looks like they had a bit more forethought than usual when they printed this one,as it could allow for infinite recursion.
Mantidactyle
“Basic Pokémon, Evolution, and/or basic Energy cards”
It wouldn’t allow infinite item recursion.
feyblade
Woops. I skimmed over the card because I found the effect to be exciting, but missed one of its more important restraints.
feyblade
Aaaand now they release Lysandre’s Trump Card, a supporter version of this card that targets the ENTIRE DISCARD PILE.
I’m not a math genius or anything, but wouldn’t it be possible to establish infinite item recursion, possibly via abusing Porygon2‘s Download?
jelze
I imagine it could make unlimited decks almost impossible to not win turn 1. If things aren’t working out and you don’t get the right draws, shuffle everything back in and start again
feyblade
To go infinite off of this guy, as far as I know, you need:
porygon
porygon 2
Lysander’s Last Resort
Devolution Spray
Some form of supporter retrieval (itemfinder, Lysander’s last resort #2, vs. seeker)
Broken timespace.
If every other card in your deck is composed of cantrips and a few card advantage generators (Misty’s Wrath, erika) , the infinite is guranteed.
The main problem is the presence of prize cards. You need some way to account for that , either by using duplicate cards or prize card manipulation.
Your payload can be extremely simple, as infinite recursion break the game so severely that you could win the game with something as simple as crobat G+1 copy of scoop up.
Dark Kira
I tried the deck, it works, but it’s -really- slow…
Mantidactyle
Should work on turn 1 without any problem in unlimited.
4 Erika / Lt. Surge’s Treaty / Misty’s Wrath / Bill’s Teleporter / Pokédex handy910is / Uxie / Poké Drawer+ / Roller Skate / Item Finder / etc.
It would be a bit slow in unlimited 150 though.
Dark Kira
Yeah, without any problem if you don’t care that it takes ages, depending on how many damage you have to deal.
Mantidactyle
Use Seeker to win in that case :P
Dark Kira
Then it would just be Porydonk, and we all know that deck is super inconsistent compared to Lysandonk
HEZ
It’s already started discussion on my local League’s FB. It completely changes how U150 is played, end games are full of power due to all the things you can recur, it’s like having a 2nd deck to pick through in that format. Last Resort completely changes all that, it may make things more balanced or at least; less about recurring Trainers and more about the Mons. That said, it kills all hope of there ever being a mill archetype…
Dark Kira
In addition to that it also kills the Quad Joltik deck that would otherwise emerge from this set
Mantidactyle
That’s sad, it looked like a fun tier 2 deck with Battle Compressor and a few Substitute Robots :(
Dark Kira
That’s what I thought, too, it could have even been good in Extended with Eelektrik.
