Pokémon (Togetic) › Stage 1 : Evolves from Togepi and into Togekiss

Poké-POWER ⇢ Miracle Shift
Once during your turn (before your attack), discard a basic Energy card attached to 1 of your Pokémon. Then, choose a basic Energy card from your discard pile and attach it to that Pokémon. This power can’t be used if Togetic is affected by a Special Condition.

{C} → Mini-Metronome
Flip a coin. If heads, choose 1 of the Defending Pokémon’s attacks. Mini-Metronome copies that attack except for its Energy cost. (You must still do anything else required in order to use that attack.) (No matter what type the Defending Pokémon is, Togetic is still {C}.) Togetic performs that attack.

    Togepi and Togetic got some special treatment in the Neo era of the TCG. There isn’t any great rhyme or reason as to why they were printed without any Weakness in the Neo era – and I won’t run through things here*, but it’s not unfair to compare their treatment to the way the Dragon type was being handled;
    · Dratini and Dragonair are mono-Dragons; in the TCG they had no Weakness and {P} Resistance.
    · Compare to Togepi, a mono-Normal; in the TCG it no Weakness and {P} Resistance.
    · Dragonite evolves into Dragon/Flying; in the TCG it kept no Weakness and swapped {P} Resistance for {F}.
    · Togetic evolves into Normal/Flying; in the TCG it kept no Weakness and swapped {P} Resistance for {F}.

    While e-Card is going to grant the Dragonite family special treatment (no Weakness and no Resistance for any stage), Togepi and Togetic lose their special status and their cards are brought in line to match their companions – Togepi has the same W:{F} and R:- as any other other {C} type that’s a Normal Pokémon in the games, Togetic has the same W:{L} and R{F} as any other {C} type that’s Normal/Flying in the games.

      * See Wizards Promo Togepi 30 for a possible reason Togepi and Togetic got special treatment in the Neo era of the TCG. The similarity in handling to the Dragonite family is probably a happy coincidence. (Get it? Happy? Happiness Pokémon?)
