Poké-BODY ⇢ Overgrow
As long as Turtwig GL‘s remaining HP is 60 or less, each of Turtwig GL‘s attacks does 30 more damage to the Defending Pokémon (before applying Weakness and Resistance).
{G}{C}{C} → Giga Drain : 30
After your attack, remove from Turtwig GL the number of damage counters equal to the damage you did to the Defending Pokémon.

Quarter-Turn
With Shaymin LV.X, Eviolite, and Snowpoint Temple, you essentially get a 170 HP Basic that can heal itself.
With Cherrim SF or Aerodactyl DEX, you can be both offensive and defensive. Turtwig could be a real tank.
WilliamH.
That would be hilarious if it could be decked.
CentauriBoy
Lurantis S&M Promo instead of Cherrim SF for +20 damage instead of +10.
Fighting Fury Belt could also be used for +40HP and +10 damage.
Giving you a 190HP, 120 (before Poke’ Body) / 150 (after Poke’ Body) damage output with two energy cards.
Or optional Floette FLF 64 for +20 HP but lose 20 damage. Which would total 210HP, 100 (before) / 130 (after) damage.
IMO, Turtwig GL RR would be better overall than Maractus BLW 12 because of the Poke’ Body, Team Galactic’s Invention G-105 Poke’ Turn and you can attack faster with a one Double Colorless + Grass Energy.
CentauriBoy
Replace Cherrim SF with Lurantis S&M Promo. Eviolite with Fighting Fury Belt. Snowpoint Temple with Aether Paradise Conservation Area. You will have a 200 HP that does 120 (before Poke Body) or 150 (after Poke Body) damage.
Optionally, replace one Lurantis with Floette FLF 64 to make Turwig 220 HP, then add cards like Professor Kukui and Giovanni’s Scheme to gain back 20 more damage.
Iris PLB 81 would be a potential card, up to 50 more damage if opponent as one prize card left.

Players unfamiliar to the format might mistake this for an evolving basic and assume that power creep is REALLY that gruesome. It would even put Turtwig POP 9 to shame. Thankfully, it’s stuck as a basic.
Nosredna
Now we have an 80 HP evolving Turtwig that does 50 for 3 energy. We’re almost there.

Very strange that they went with a Turtwig GL when Gardenia did end up getting a Torterra in Platinum. (I realise that in the initial gym battle with her it presents as a Turtwig…but that didn’t stop Roark’s Rampardos GL from happening)

The trick with these “Draining” Grass type Pokemon is to make them able to absorb as much damage as possible, and move any excess damage off of them so they’re always at full health. Then move damage back onto them if they would do more damage than they have on themselves. That makes Reuniclus (BLW 57 or DRX 126) pretty important. It can take a couple turns to get set up, but Spiritomb (AR 32) does very well at both slowing down your opponents, and speeding up your evolutions. And Reuniclus allows you to play Twins and all of the “behind on prizes” cards.
Turtwig GL as the active, and on the bench you have Reuniclus, Shaymin Lv.X (+40 HP), and 3 in some combination of Floette (FLF 64) (+20 HP each) and Lurantis (SM25) (+20 damage each). With a Fighting Fury Belt (BKP 99) (+40 HP and +10 damage) on and Aether Paradise Conservation Area (GRI 116) (-30 damage taken), Turtwig GL has effective HP of 200 HP (+20 more for each Floette) and will deal 40 damage with Giga Drain (+30 if you have 60 HP or less remaining) and +20 damage for each Lurantis. Going 1 Floette and 2 Lurantis is probably best (effectively 220 HP and hitting for 80-110 a turn.
At the risk of getting super blown out, you could run Sky Field (ROS 89) instead of APCA, and you can have all 3 of both Floette and Lurantis (+60 HP and +60 damage).
Foon-Gus Fring
Only baby-stage-starter that appeared as an SP (in the English-language TCG at least).
