Poké-BODY ⇢ Darkness Drive
After your opponent’s Pokémon uses a Poké-Power, you may search your discard pile for a basic {D} Energy card and attach it to Tyranitar.
{C}{C} → Grind : 20×
Does 20 damage times the amount of Energy attached to Tyranitar.
{D}{D}{D}{D}{D} → Spinning Tail
This attack does 30 damage to each of your opponent’s Pokémon. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)

so bad!!!
Adam Capriola
Nah ah this card was decent! I’d say a solid 7/10.
Caleb Mullins
really? i’d like to do more than 30 for 5 energy (especially when none of them are colorless!!!)
Adam Capriola
Grind was the main attack people used. Boost Energy was in the format as well, so that was +60 damage, and with an Expert Belt attached that was +20 more, so it could OHKO a lot of things.

I don’t think Boost Energy and Expert Belt ever clashed in format.
Adam Capriola
You may be right… I know I played against it at Nats in top cut a couple years ago and it nearly beat my beloved Gyarados. Maybe it was just DCE he played which was +40.
Anonymous
That’s ironic because Gyarados and Tyrannitar were the “main attackers” of both the Stormfront theme decks.

hot damn! lol thats somethings i never considered! i didnt start playing till last christmas and then i took a break until may so i dont know a lot of SP cards lol

With Darkrai Lv. X that attack was actually OK, and it’s not the only attack Tyrannitar had.

You speak fallacies.

Not a bad card at all! I use this in my Dark deck. If your opponent is using Poke-powers every turn you can build up to spinning tail with no effort or wasting your energy attachments. I often find it puts people off using their Poke-powers at all, so it kind of works like a lock down card.

I have two of these in my binder. They’ve been there ever since I first got them.

I always intended to make a deck around this and Luxray GL/LGLX, using Trash Bolt to discard Darkness Energy for Darkness Drive to promptly pick back up. Bright Look was just a minor perk of running the most expensive card at the time.

So many energy symbols that horizon line is tilted in this illustration.

There’s a bit of discussion about Pokémon having a lack of counterplay and inter-turn interactivity, and I think there are valid points about it, but I think this card nails a perfect example of how Pokémon can still be Pokémon and still have interesting interaction on enemy turns. Being able to limit what your opponent does, not by blocking their actions, but by reaping rewards from their actions is super cool!

There are a few examples of this in the older sets. Flygon ex in Power Keepers and Shiftry ex from Crystal Guardians come to mind as well.
