Funny that 20+ years after Mysterious Fossil first came out, the TCG still treats fossils as Basic Pokémon, even though that’s not how they’re treated in the video games. They go into your items pack, not your party!
But since Gen 2, Eggs *do* become part of your party and are treated like a real Pokémon. But that aspect never crossed over to the TCG in the same way.
