{W} → Aqua Supply : 20
You may attach a basic Energy card from your hand to 1 of your Pokémon.
{C}{C}{C} → Multi Bubble : 40+
If Vaporeon has 3 or more different types of basic Energy cards attached to it, this attack does 40 damage plus 20 more damage and the Defending Pokémon is now Asleep.

One of those happy occasions where the individual who designed the Pokémon is the person illustrating its artwork!

Also true for most the other Eeveelutions that Nishida’s designed — Espeon, Umbreon, Glaceon, and Sylveon. Leafeon is the only one without Nishida artwork, and the only Eeveelution in general without any Nishida artwork.
Related, here’s a lovely interview on the design process of the Eeveelutions:

Of particular note is that for the first two gens, sprites were made *before* the concept artwork.

It’s very tempting to say the modern state of monster design would be in a much better spot if they’d never stopped doing sprites before the concept artwork. I’ve considered for a while that the constraints of the sprite-first approach lent to a je ne sais quoi in monster design that later eras haven’t been able to recreate.

I think sprite-first is good for sprite-based games, but many of the older pokemon translate poorly to 3D models imo. I would consider gen 7 to be the franchise’s peak in terms of design, but preferences are obv highly varied :U
