When volcanic ash darkened the atmosphere, it is said that Volcarona’s fire provided a replacement for the sun.

Until 5th gen, I thought that Nintendo really hated the Fire type. A grand total of FIVE we got in DPPt.
Then BW came along and we got Victini, Darmanitan, Chandelure, Drought Ninetales and Reshiram all at once. :)

Fire was the most populated type prior to Gen IV. I haven’t taken count lately, so I have no idea what is now.

Why was this card given the move “fiery dance” instead of Volcarona’s signature move, “Quiver Dance”?
I imagine it’s because quiver dance sounds too bugg-y; this is a fire type card so it perhaps made more sense to give it a fiery name instead?

Fiery Dance *is* Volcarona’s signature move, actually — Quiver Dance is a different move learned by various lepidopteran pokemon like Butterfree, Venomoth, and Volcarona as well.
It has a slightly different effect in the TCG:

Notably, Quiver Dance’s JP name is Butterfly Dance, hence its distribution.

Omg you’re totally right!

Because Volcarona can learn *both moves* in the video games, I forgot that they’re two separate moves entirely. Thanks for the reminder!
