As difficult as it may be to imagine, there are actually reasonably likely situations that will arise where this is NOT always better than the base set version. Considering the fact that the base set version had a colorless energy,and the fact that the matching electrode is usable in non-lightning decks, this is likely to pop up in decks that have no lightning energy at all. Obviously being unable able to attack outweighs the advantage of having an attack that is ten points more powerful.
This is very marginal, though, as you’d never want to be in a situation where you cannot attack or are confined to a 10 damage attack.
We play Wizards era Cube Draft a lot here, if you are playing Lightning he’s actually quite a force in such a limited format, especially as a common. Just don’t bump into Hitmonchan :P
I really like this card’s background. It is blurry, but its a downtown city at night. Maybe because I am nocturnal, but I always enjoy the night with all lights lit up the town.
