Its immense size is the reason for its popularity. Wailord watching is a favorite sightseeing activity in various parts of the world.

I hate how this card becomes useless after having 5 damage counters on it. It should be 20 less damage or even 10, this card wont see use anyway

Wailord-EX became a tournament winning card in a stall deck where it never attacked, instead relying on its bulk and disruption cards to become almost impossible to OHKO, and slowly running you out of cards.

Given, that was a Basic Pokemon, so this is likely less effective.

Correct. I was merely addressing the notion that the card was likely to be run as an attacker. I can’t see the Wailord-EX strategy working too well, as I think enough decks can OHKO the 220, though it is a bit harder than it looks since it is not a Pokémon-EX/GX so there’s no damage bonus from something like Choice Band.

If one just needs a meatshield and doesn’t care if it does get KO’d, being a Stage 1 is still a drawback but not being a Pokémon-EX/GX means this Wailord would only give up a single Prize. This is still a strategy that means the attack would be pointless; the OTHER option is a deck where healing is easy and expected, like an Archie’s Blastoise deck. Better attackers for that deck exist, but it is the kind of deck where various healing effects – that usually cost you all your Energy – can be spammed while quickly energizing (and re-energizing) Wailord.

Note: I did edit this post; original had some typos or poor word choices, and I realized I just needed to rewrite the second paragraph to say the same thing, only in a manner that was both more clear and concise.
