Poké-BODY ⇢ Icy Aura
As long as Walrein ex is your Active Pokémon, put 1 damage counter on each Active Pokémon (both yours and your opponent’s) between turns, excluding {W} Pokémon.
{W}{C} → Water Arrow
Choose 1 of your opponent’s Pokémon. This attack does 40 damage to that Pokémon. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)
{W}{W}{C}{C} → Ice Throw : 80
If the Defending Pokémon is a {F} Pokémon, this attack’s base damage is 120 instead of 80.
· Pokémon-ex rule: When Pokémon-ex has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

It seems pretty good as an attacker… Also, is it just me or have cards from Power Keepers and Legend Maker been most of the CoTDs recently.

It was a pretty good time for the game! Late ex series was awesome with lots of different play styles viable, not just put Basic active, attach energy and go. Early D&P was cool too.
Uh… on the topic of Walrein ex… the Power Keepers version is more interesting I’d say, but this one is notable as one of the few exs with non-3D CGI artwork. Kimiya Masago knows how to make Pokemon look scary, check out his stuff in the e-reader sets!

Pretty sure the intent here is to completely clear out Legend Maker. I guess having people analyze these cards in succession in order to get an idea of their relative powers.
Onto the card itself, it feels as if it’s an card that works against itself. 10 damage to both enemies is nice, and its weaknesses differ from those of a normal water type, so it synergizes well with the pokemon it is supposed to support… but this is a bit heavy and clunky for a spread deck clock, don’t you think?
Ice throw looks absolutely ridiculous. There are some fighting types (namely, the water weak ones) that would take 160 damage before their turn from ice throw with the power factored in (a jaw dropping 250 damage if it’s an x2 weakness.) Golem from this very set loses over 200% of his HP from a single ice throw.
Unfortunately, the effect is lost against the EXs it should ostensibly counter. In a straight up fight , Armaldo should beat this. A single react-powered swift blow from machamp KOs this.
It’s a pretty good EX for its time, but I can kind of see why there weren’t many decks built around it

This is the last Pokémon this artist drew.

I’m really bummed out about this :/ Kimiya’s art is just so detailed it’s almost like those “Pokemon in the real world” type of things, except it retains its “Pokemonness”

Yeah, plus current cards are mostly CG images poking out of the boarder in a random coloured void and sparkles.
