Potentially the last fairy card to ever be printed :(

Still absolutely baffled as to why they chose Xerneas EX for this set. I understand wanting a fairy rep, but why Xerneas EX? From memory it was never really played. Geomancy Xerneas would have been a better choice in my opinion (as well as non-Xerneas cards like Aromatisse or bench barrier Mr Mime).
I love to think about how celebrations would have looked if they chose (either) M Gardevoir EX as the fairy rep, as it would mean they would have needed to choose a different delta species pokémon than Gardevoir, and they might have gone with a different pokémon than M Rayquaza EX as well.
Either way, I’m not mad at Xerneas EX, just perplexed. Hopefully we get Celebrations style reprints again.

It could have to do with the fact that every single card you suggested was included in 2017’s The Best of XY set (essentially the Gen 6 version of the the end-of-the-block blowout set, c.f. its counterparts in later gens, which the EN TCG partially adapted as Cosmic Eclipse and Crown Zenith). It doesn’t necessarily rule any of them out – M Rayquaza EX was also in that set – but they might’ve wanted Gen 6 representation to not be entirely redundant to its last set.
