It’s not even a one-off. See DR Latias 𝒆𝒙 and DR Latios 𝒆𝒙. The Japanese TCG wasn’t much better, but went in the reverse direction – a lot of First Expansion Pack~Mystery of the Fossil evolution holofoils don’t cut the holofoil to adjust for the evolution box, and just overlap it (e.g. https://pcg-search.com/card/1st/1st1036.php https://pcg-search.com/card/1st/1st1056.php https://pcg-search.com/card/1st/1st3025.php)
(This is probably ~why~ the Rocket/Gym sets adjusted the size of the illustration box for evolution cards, and maybe even why the neo era cards switched to a circular evolution box?)

Also, hey… where is this Pokédex entry from? Its JP Pokédex entry also seems to be unique to the TCG;
